DESCRIPTION:Meet field trip leader Chris Marsh at 9:00 AM at the Ivy Bluff Trail parking area located at 4240 Shoals Road\, East Bend\, NC (enter this address to get directions). \nAfter birding the upland mixed deciduous-pine forest near the parking area\, we will drive a short distance (< 1 mile) to the parking area next to the Yadkin River (4454 Shoals Road) and bird in the floodplain and bluff forests there. This will be an easy walk as we will be birding along the gravel road between these two parking areas. For those of you interested in learning tree identification\, this area has a nice diversity of trees as well as providing excellent habitat for early fall migrants. \nCell phone reception can be weak at this location so here are written driving instructions: This location is easily reached by driving out Reynolda Rd (Hwy 67) to the small community of East Bend. Once on Main Street in East Bend\, go one mile\, then turn right on Fairground Road (go 0.5 miles) then a right on Shady Grove Church Road (go 0.5 miles)\, and then another right on Shoals Road for 2 miles. The Ivy Trail gravel parking area is on the right and is part of the Pilot Mountain State Park. There is a restroom at the parking area.

The outing will be at the Cascades Preserve in the NE portion of Forsyth County (technically just over the Guilford County line). SUMMARY:Young Birders Outing
DESCRIPTION:Join outing leader Jesse Haaf at the Tanglewood Yadkin River Trail.  Park in the gravel lot across from Skilpot Lake (follow the signs for the BMX track once you go through the park entrance – the trail begins on the road to the BMX track).  Dress in layers for varying conditions as we normally are out around 2 hours.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  This event is open to anyone\, but is geared toward our young birders!
