SUMMARY:Second Saturday Bird Outing at Cascades Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Join outing leaders Pam and Doug DeNeve on Saturday\, August 10th at 8:00 AM for our Second Saturday Bird Outing! The outing will be at the Cascades Preserve in the NE portion of Forsyth County (technically just over the Guilford County line). We will meet in the parking lot located at 7359 Goodwill Church Rd\, Kernersville\, NC 27284. \nThe area is hilly and trails are rooted and uneven. It is recommended to wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring walking sticks if desired. Don’t forget water and a snack! There are plenty of places to stop along the way\, however\, there are no bathrooms available. This is a new trail for many of us and we are looking forward to see what we discover!

DESCRIPTION:Note the venue has changed on this event from its earlier posting. This event is now being held at Reynolda! \nWe hope to see you on Saturday\, August 24th at 9:00 AM for our August Young Birders Walk! This walk will be at Reynolda. We will meet at the Lake Katharine Boat House. You can park in the lower parking lot near the wetlands\, and we will gather at the boat house. \nAll Young Birders must be accompanied by a responsible adult. We encourage everyone to bring a snack and water. Please wear sturdy\, closed-toe shoes. Though this walk is geared for the younger set\, ALL AGES are welcome and encouraged to attend!

SUMMARY:Monday Bird Outing
DESCRIPTION:Meet field trip leader Chris Marsh at 9:00 AM at the Ivy Bluff Trail parking area located at 4240 Shoals Road\, East Bend\, NC (enter this address to get directions). \nAfter birding the upland mixed deciduous-pine forest near the parking area\, we will drive a short distance (< 1 mile) to the parking area next to the Yadkin River (4454 Shoals Road) and bird in the floodplain and bluff forests there. This will be an easy walk as we will be birding along the gravel road between these two parking areas. For those of you interested in learning tree identification\, this area has a nice diversity of trees as well as providing excellent habitat for early fall migrants. \nCell phone reception can be weak at this location so here are written driving instructions: This location is easily reached by driving out Reynolda Rd (Hwy 67) to the small community of East Bend. Once on Main Street in East Bend\, go one mile\, then turn right on Fairground Road (go 0.5 miles) then a right on Shady Grove Church Road (go 0.5 miles)\, and then another right on Shoals Road for 2 miles. The Ivy Trail gravel parking area is on the right and is part of the Pilot Mountain State Park. There is a restroom at the parking area.
