SUMMARY:Fourth Monday Bird Outing
DESCRIPTION:Fourth Monday Birding at Winston Lake. We’ll meet at the north end of the lake parking lot by the pier. Late March is the end of “weird duck season” so we’ll scan the water for any lingering waterfowl. It also is the start of spring migration. The habitat at the lake is perfect for the vanguards of that northward movement\, Louisiana Waterthrush\, Common Yellowthroat\, and various swallow species. We’ll patrol the water’s edge in hopes of scrounging up some “first of springs”. We’ll keep the walk short and flat\, but things may get a bit muddy!

SUMMARY:Second Saturday Bird Walk
DESCRIPTION:Don’t monad-knock it until you’ve monad-tried it: join Katherine Tombs for a bird walk around Pilot Mountain’s peak! We will be meeting at the summit parking lot at 8:30 AM. We’ll plan to take the short jaunt to Little Pinnacle Overlook\, and then take the .8 mile moderate Pilot Knob Trail that circumnavigates the pinnacle. It should be a good day for raptors\, warblers\, woodpeckers\, and whatever other fun nature things we want to observe and enjoy. \nAs always\, the suggestions of close-toed shoes\, ample water\, and adaptive hiking gear remain in place. All ages welcome. See you there!

SUMMARY:Fourth Monday Bird Outing
DESCRIPTION:Join Chris Marsh at Horizons Park for our Fourth Monday Bird Walk. We’ll meet in the main parking area where there’s a very convenient restroom in the adjacent picnic area. We will explore both forest and field in search of summer breeders such as orioles\, vireos\, warblers\, Blue Grosbeaks and Indigo Buntings. These bird walks are for people who are just learning about birds as well as those who have been birding for years. \nPlease wear sturdy closed-toe shoes (preferably waterproof) as we will be walking through a hilly\, grassy area that might be wet with dew. As this is a mid-summer walk\, it is a good idea to bring water.
