One week later than usual due to Thanksgiving.) \nOur own Forsyth Audubon member and past president Doug DeNeve will present on Penguin Nesting: “Penguins nest in colonies in a number of different southern hemisphere locations. Each location presents a set of challenges that are specific to that colony. In this program\, we will explore how penguins overcome these challenges and raise their young in colonies in three separate locations\, on three different continents.” – Doug \nDoug has been birding and photographing wildlife around the world for over 40 years. His travels have taken him to more than 40 states\, over 30 countries\, and all 7 continents. He has been active with Audubon since the 1980s\, and served a couple of terms as Forsyth Audubon’s president in the 90s. He has also volunteered to assist on numerous field research projects\, including monitoring and collecting data in penguin colonies in South Africa and Argentina. \nSocial time begins at 6:30\, program begins at 7:00 PM

DESCRIPTION:Join in on the fun and satisfaction of cleaning up the area around Bethabara Wetlands on Friday\, October 11th 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Meet at the Walgreens parking lot on Reynolda Road\, across from Childcare Network (where we used to meet). Keep Winston Salem Beautiful provides bags for trash and recycling\, gloves\, hand sanitizer\, and maybe snacks. Bring your own water please. Bring your own pick-up stick if you have one. Our feathered friends are usually there to cheer us up and thank us!
