Field of view describes how much area you can see through the binoculars. Does the image look like a panorama or a view through a tunnel?
Field of view is greater with lower magnification. The greater the field of view, the easier it is to find the bird you are looking for. This is especially helpful when looking for birds in the woods.
For a given magnification, field of view increases with the cost of the binoculars. Thanks to today’s computer technology, however, modestly priced binoculars typically have a perfectly adequate field of view.
